News in a Minute!

Overview:

Equip your students with essential multimodal literacy skills through an engaging, hands-on workshop using Moo-V, the intuitive student-friendly video presentation app. Over four interactive sessions, participants will craft a professional, one-minute "News in Brief" video, honing their abilities in:

• Information gathering
• Writing clearly and effectively
• Representing ideas visually
• Reading and presenting fluently and confidently

Students will explore and practice the six semiotic modes — linguistic, oral, gestural, audio, visual, and spatial — gaining a deeper understanding of multimodal texts and developing the skills to become confident and effective visual storytellers.

Recommended for students aged 10 and above:

• Duration: 4 sessions (60 minutes each)
• Language: English
• Requirements: iPads for every student; no prior experience required
• Format: Individual or collaborative group projects

• Session 1: Writing a Strong News Intro & Outro
• Session 2: Developing the Main News Content
• Session 3: Speaking Clearly & Confidently (Oracy Practice)

Technical Training for Teachers

Overview:

This 2-hour training session is designed to equip teachers with the technical know-how to use the Moo-V app in their classrooms. Through guided, hands-on practice, participants will explore the app's core features and functions, enabling them to support their students in creating impactful video presentations.

Teachers will learn how to:

• Navigate the Moo-V interface
• Use the Camera, Text, Image, Video, Music, and Scribble tools
• Create and manage Sequences
• Support group work
• Publish and review videos

Recommended for Upper primary teachers:

• Duration: 1.5 - 2 hours
• Language: English
• Requirements: An iPad with the Moo-V app installed for each participant
